We said we would return. We said it was soon. The terror in your eyes when you saw us leave
was heart breaking. As we walked through those doors your eyes and smile were as radiant as the sun. This lovely Steampunk troupe of trouble and talent was invited to TusCon 42! Cirque des Bêtes took out all the stops for this monsoon of fun in Arizona. On the invitation of Madam Askew, we agreed to stun, seduce, and smile as your Saturday, Halloween evening burlesque show.
This adventure to TusCon the Quartet of chaos set down the road from the coast of California. The cast included Eve Riot, Nikolai de la Muerte, the elusive Selia Something and of course Igor Magister of Spheres! The road was long to this adventure but it was important that we visited our Mechanical zoo in Gila Bend. Our wild metal dinosaurs needed some training and love. Selia and the horse performed a new number she called, “Thhpbpbpb.” Such grace! As Igor and Selia met the T-rex for the first time they immediately were on the defensive. They should have known than to play with the baby. As the weather worsened it was clear that the show must go on.
Saturday was a day to remember. Our troupe had a lovely morning and lazily spending hours conserving energy by participating in the Convention. Igor is a master of spheres and strategy as he won a battle in the game Warmachine. We explored the Art exhibits and perused the used books at the Vendor hall, greeting notorious authors and prepping everyone for the burlesque show that evening. In the early afternoon the troupe met with the VERY talented and charming photographer Fenix Fox. He is putting together a very large catalog in a project dubbed “Alter-Egos.” Cirque des Bêtes came as a recommendation and we set up a shoot. We arrived in our mundane clothes, struck a pose, changed our robes, and displayed those. Fenix Fox was a very patient man as the troupe played the, “Let’s do THIS!” game. We departed with small souvenir, Polaroids because instant gratification is so satisfying. Seek him out people!
Thank You so much TusCon and Tucson! Thank you Madam and everyone else for enjoying our performances, tricks and treats; we look forward to returning next year to provide another spectacular stage performance with more performers and talented beasts in our tent. On behalf of Eve Riot, Selia Something, Igor Magister of Spheres, and Nikolai de la Muerte; Thank you, thank you, thank you. Dry your eyes fans and fawns, we shall return. As demonstrated we hold to our promises.
